Calabrian cane whistles are very popular wind musical instruments in the popular tradition of Calabria. Handcrafted, these whistles are made of a perforated bamboo cane
The cane used for the construction of the whistles is carefully selected and worked manually, in order to obtain a pungent and lively sound.
These instruments are often used in accompaniment to other instruments typical of Calabrian popular music, such as the guitar, bagpipe or tambourine, to create festive and engaging music. Calabrian cane whistles are a symbol of the popular culture of the region, and their musical tradition is still very much alive and present in the daily life of local communities.
